More about Plymouth

England's oldest working gin distillery, operating since 1793 from a building that dates to 1431 on Plymouth's historic Barbican. Black Friars Distillery (once a Dominican monastery) produces Plymouth Gin using their own recipe and local water. It's tradition that actually tastes traditional, not like a marketing story.

Tasting Notes & Food Pairings

Perfect Pairings

A cocktail gin first and foremost: Negroni, martini, gimlet, or a tall gin and tonic. At the table it loves briny, herbal things - raw oysters, smoked salmon on brown bread, cucumber and dill salads, ceviche, salted almonds, and green olives.

Tasting Profile

Juniper leads but stays soft, backed by coriander, cardamom, and dried orange peel. Medium-weight and faintly creamy on the palate, drier than it smells, finishing clean with a gentle earthy, rooty warmth.
