Domaine Fourrier’s 2023 Morey‑Saint‑Denis Clos Solon reflects Louise Fourrier’s biodynamic ethos in a village-level expression. The estate farms old-vine Pinot Noir on steep clay-limestone slopes, handpicks fruit, ferments with native yeasts, and ages in 30–40% new oak.

This mid-tier bottling balances fresh red cherry, mineral clarity, and fine structure. It complements Fourrier’s Premier Cru lineup and offers a poised introduction to the estate’s hallmark finesse and terroir expression.

Professional Reviews

Burghound

BH 91
"A pretty mix is comprised by notes of red and dark currant, plum and soft earth nuances where the latter are picked up by the suave, round and generously proportioned flavors that conclude in a balanced finish that is shaped by relatively fine-grained tannins. Lovely." -Allen Meadows

Antonio Galloni

AG 93
"The 2023 Morey-Saint-Denis Clos Solon has a gorgeous bouquet with lively red cherry and crushed strawberry scents intermixed with forest floor and a light ceps aroma. The palate is medium-bodied, fresh and crisp, with fine delineation, a pleasing edginess and a tensile finish. This is a strong follow-up to the 2022." -Neal Martin

Robert Parker

RP 90
"Aromas of sweet cassis, cherries and berries introduce the 2023 Morey-Saint-Denis Clos Solon, a medium-bodied, succulent and flavorful red with a sweet core of fruit and soft, melting tannins." -William Kelley

Decanter

D 94
"Fourrier’s Morey Clos Solon features very exuberant aromas of ripe plum with a lavender edge and a bit of spice. The texture is silky and fresh, but there is more substance and weight than the same wine in 2022. The grapes are from a half hectare along the main road into Morey below the band of premier crus. As is his custom, Jean-Marie has destemmed but added some of the stems back into the ferment to produce this delicious wine. Cellar this wine for three to five years to allow it time to open." -Charles Curtis MW

While Burgundy offers many great trophies from top producers in well-known villages like Vosne Romanee and Puligny Montrachet, it also offers excellent values to anyone willing to explore beyond the famous names. Our collection– one of the largest in the U.S. – has plenty of both!

From the very basics of Burgundy's regions and wines to the specific terroirs of individual single vineyards--
