Blaufränkisch may be best known in Austria, but Red Tail Ridge proves the grape has a serious voice in New York’s Finger Lakes. Grown on the western shore of Seneca Lake, the RTR Vineyard benefits from moderating breezes, limestone-rich soils, and meticulous farming—all of which show up in this vibrant, site-specific 2022 bottling.

Medium-bodied and sleek, it leads with dark cherry, black raspberry, and a crack of black pepper. There’s energy and acidity to spare, but also a gentle, earthy grip that makes it feel grounded and food-friendly. The tannins are fine but present, and a subtle smokiness from partial aging in neutral oak adds quiet complexity without weighing it down.
