The top of HaJo Becker's library range, an Auslese named for Jean Baptist, the wine cooper who founded the estate in Walluf in 1893. Becker, one of the last guardians of classical German wine culture, farms organically and ages his wines long in neutral cask; the Walkenberg site, on a wind-protected Walluf hillside, is his benchmark vineyard, often home to old vines. Auslese ripeness brings concentration and richness while Becker's signature acidity keeps it lifted and precise rather than heavy. From the 2015 vintage, this is a pre-arrival library release and a special bottle for lovers of traditional, age-worthy Rheingau Riesling. ETA September 2026.

Hans-Josef 'Hajo' Becker took over this Walluf estate with his sister Maria in 1971 and bet on dry Riesling when the market wanted sweet. In his words, 'I lost all my customers.' Decades later the Rheingau caught up. The vineyards are certified organic, ferments are wild, and the wines spend at least two years in traditional old casks before release. Bracing, structured and built to age: older dry Kabinetts sail past 20 years.
