The top of HaJo Becker's library range, an Auslese named for Jean Baptist, the wine cooper who founded the estate in Walluf in 1893. Becker, one of the last guardians of classical German wine culture, farms organically and ages his wines long in neutral cask; the Walkenberg site, on a wind-protected Walluf hillside, is his benchmark vineyard, often home to old vines. Auslese ripeness brings concentration and richness while Becker's signature acidity keeps it lifted and precise rather than heavy. From the 2015 vintage, this is a pre-arrival library release and a special bottle for lovers of traditional, age-worthy Rheingau Riesling. ETA September 2026.

Hans-Josef Becker was pioneering dry Riesling in the 1970s when everyone else wanted sweetness. Now, decades later, his nervy, structured Rheingau wines are recognized as some of Germany's best.
