A fully mature white Meursault from the one domaine famous for refusing to sell its wines young. Ampeau held bottles for decades in a famously cold cellar and released them only when it decided they were ready, so a 2000 like this arrives already carrying the honeyed, nutty complexity that most white Burgundy only dreams of reaching. The house style is oxidative and built for the long haul, which makes it one of the more reliable names from an era otherwise haunted by premature oxidation, though any 25-year-old white will vary bottle to bottle. This is village Meursault, but the extra years give it the depth and roundness people chase in Premier Cru. A rare chance to drink white Burgundy the way it was meant to be experienced: old, evolved, and ready.

More about Robert Ampeau et Fils

Robert Ampeau was a legend. His son Michel carries that tradition forward from Meursault, aging Burgundies in cold cellars for decades before they leave the domaine. Patient, old-school, uncompromising—if you want to taste what real Burgundy tastes like when left alone, this is it.
