Snowden Vineyards, Cabernet Sauvignon The Ranch, 2022
Snowden Vineyards, Cabernet Sauvignon The Ranch, 2022 is backordered and will ship as soon as it is back in stock.
Snowden’s “The Ranch” is one of those under-the-radar Napa Cabs that delivers year after year—a blend of fruit from their high-elevation vineyard tucked between Rutherford and St. Helena, made with care and zero excess.
The 2022 vintage brings a beautiful balance: dark cherry, blackberry, cedar, and dusty cocoa, with floral lift and just the right amount of structure. It’s rich but not heavy, with fine tannins and a savory edge that gives it a little old-school Napa feel. You can pop it now with a quick decant, or let it mellow in the cellar for 5–10 years.
Winemaking here is handled by Diana Snowden Seysses (of Burgundy’s Domaine Dujac), and you can taste the influence: elegance, clarity, and respect for the vineyard over oak or ripeness. “The Ranch” is their signature Cabernet—serious enough to impress, approachable enough to open on a weeknight.
Pairs with steak, burgers, grilled veggies, or anything that calls for a solid glass of hillside red with structure and soul.

Tasting Profile
The land that is now Snowden Vineyards was first planted to grapes (mostly zinfandel) back in the 1880’s. In 1955 the Snowden family purchased the land and since then they have returned much of the 160 acres to a forest preserve. But they continue to farm 23 acres of mostly Cabernet and Merlot with the utmost care and respect. This is true mountain fruit, located right at the border of the St. Helena and Rutherford AVA’s. The wines are made by a 3rd generation Snowden, Diana, who also is intimately involved in the winemaking at her husband’s estate in Burgundy: Domaine Dujac. That’s right, Diana Snowden-Seysses is married to Jeremy Seysses and together they help produce some of the world’s most sought after Pinot Noir. Turns out they also make extremely good, and very classic, Napa Valley Cabernet and Merlot.
