"The 2023 Chénas Chassignol undergoes a 28-day maceration with two rounds of foot pressing, 30% of the wine aged in used barrels and 70% in various sized foudres. This has one of my favorite bouquets from Thillardon, with peony and rose aromas infusing the hints of pure red fruit and mandarin. The palate is well balanced with a fresh entry, crisp acidity and a strict, linear finish. I admire its uncompromising nature." —Neal Martin

More about Thillardon

Paul-Henri Thillardon moved to Chénas at 22 and spent the next decade building something remarkable with his siblings. Twelve hectares of biodynamic Gamay on four different soils, natural winemaking with carbonic maceration, and the kind of precision that turns this much-maligned region into a source of pure, sincere, fleshy elegance. Thillardon doesn't overthink Beaujolais—they just express it with uncommon finesse and aging potential.
