Frénésie is Alexandre Lamblot's single-parcel Meunier from the village of Vrigny. It's bottled Brut Nature, with no dosage, so nothing is added to smooth the edges and what you taste is the grape and the place. This release is built on the 2023 harvest. Lamblot is based in the Petite Montagne de Reims, and Alexandre launched his own label in 2019. He farms 3.5 hectares of densely planted, massale-selection vines, certified organic since 2021, and it was Jérôme Prévost, the high priest of grower Meunier, who pointed his importer his way. His cellar work is what you'd hope for: native yeasts, mostly used barrels, no fining or filtration and disgorgement by hand. He also uses a little less sugar at tirage than is typical, which keeps the bubbles soft and fine. He's strict, too. In years when his Meunier doesn't meet his standards (2017 was one), he makes a different cuvée called Mouvance. If you think of Meunier as Champagne's workhorse grape, this bottle makes the case against that.

Antonio Galloni

"The NV (2020) Frénésie shows just how compelling Meunier can be in the right sites, in this case, older vines in Vrigny. Floral, lifted and silky in feel, with exceptional balance, the Frénésie is another compelling wine in this tasting. Brisk acids perk up the savory, persistent finish. Zero dosage." —Antonio Galloni

Robert Parker

"Disgorged in February 2026, Lamblot's latest NV Brut Nature Frénésie Meunier is derived entirely from the 2023 vintage. It opens in the glass with aromas of orange oil, apple and meadowsweet mingled with toasted nuts and subtle yeasty top notes. Medium- to full-bodied on the palate, it is built around a succulent, expressive core of fruit, but its quality falls somewhat short of the earliest releases. As ever, it is sourced from parcels in Vrigny where Pinot Meunier is planted in sandy soils over limestone bedrock." —Kristaps Karklins

More about A. Lamblot

Alexandre Lamblot is the 13th generation of his family making wine and honestly, he's operating like he invented something new. He's got 4 hectares in Montagne de Reims, fertilizes with a mobile chicken coop, braids his vines' shoots to trade heat in winter, and ferments each plot separately in a wooden basket press—all by hand. No sulfites, no fining, no shortcuts. The result? Bone-dry champagnes with real soul, and he's got some serious friends in New York backing him up already.

Tasting Notes & Food Pairings

Perfect Pairings

Raw oysters with mignonette; gougères; hamachi or fluke crudo; roast chicken with morels; aged Comté; fried chicken.

Tasting Profile

Expect the red-apple, pear and red-berry fruit typical of grower Meunier (think a rounder, fruitier take on Pinot Noir-based Champagne), with a savoury, lightly bready edge from fermentation in used barrels. With no dosage it should be bone-dry and taut, with bright acidity, a soft, fine mousse and a clean, saline finish.

Champagne

Champagne boasts some of the world’s greatest luxury brands with Krug, Cristal and, of course, Dom Perignon. But it’s also home to hundreds of small dynamic producers—farmers who grow their own grapes (often organically) and make (often with natural methods) tiny amounts of pure and absolutely delicious wine that reflect the individual personalities of their villages and terroirs. Toast with these wines, for sure. But also treat them like the great wines they are: taste, drink, explore!
