Grand Cru Riesling from Schlossberg—the first Alsace vineyard granted Grand Cru status in 1975 and the largest at 80.28 hectares. Mann family winemakers since the early 17th century; Barthelmé family since 1654. Maurice Barthelmé married Marie-Claire, granddaughter of Albert Mann. Brothers Maurice and Jacky run the domaine since 1984. 21 hectares total, 5 across six Grand Crus. Biodynamic since 1997 (Biodyvin certification in progress since 2010), organic certified by Ecocert since 2000. Schlossberg's granite soils. Indigenous yeast, 18+ months in large oak, unfiltered.

"The 2021 Riesling Schlossberg Grand Cru charms with stone and peach, aromatic and surprisingly open. Clearly, the free-draining nature of the Schlossberg granite was a blessing in 2021. This is so strait-laced, so complete, so serene, so stony, so linear, absolutely pristine, stellar in fact. The fact that herbal savor plays around the nose and that peach makes a distant appearance is all by the by. This is a wine that explains why this is such a legendary grand cru: because it brings forth wine like this in a challenging vintage. Splendid." —Anne Krebiehl MW
