The rosé, made from 100% Mataro (aka Mourvèdre), is fine and racy, with raspberry and lemon notes but a slight kiss of tannin that delivers a winsome chewiness.

"The 2021 Brut Nature Rosé Reserva Mirgin is a Cava from Comtats de Barcelona. Herbal and hoppy, with caramel, toast and brioche, it is dry with lively mousse and balanced freshness. The finish highlights hops and caramel, a flavorful Mediterranean Rosé sparkler." —Joaquín Hidalgo

More about Alta Alella

Alta Alella sits 20 minutes north of Barcelona overlooking the Mediterranean, farming 60 hectares on sandy granitic Sauló soil. Josep Maria Pujol-Baquests started planting in 1991 and released his first vintage in 2001 to genuine acclaim. They're cranking out around 50 different wines a year from micro-vinifications—organic and natural wines, Cavas, innovative blends—refusing to be pinned down by a single category. It's borderline chaotic and utterly alive.
