This is a single-vineyard Riesling from Rosengartl, a storied site on the Nussberg hill above the Danube, and it shows just how age-worthy and precise Viennese wine can be. Jutta Ambrositsch is among the city's most respected natural growers, farming organically and working with native yeasts and minimal sulfur. "Utopie" is her serious, terroir-driven Riesling, built on the mix of soils that make the Nussberg so special. Linear, complex, and a world away from casual Viennese whites.

"The 2024 Riesling Utopie is picked from now 24-year-old German clones within Ried Rosengartl on the Nussberg, on Triassic limestone. This wine was not made in 2023 due to hail damage, and in 2024, it was made in large barrel. Peach, blossom and creaminess unite into a dreamy nose. The palate is smooth, gliding with concentration and rounded freshness, still imbued with lively yeast and showing just a touch of citrus pith. With more air, alluring scents of citrus emerge, while the bone-dry finish holds a gorgeous note of lemon." —Anne Krebiehl, MW
