Finger Lakes rosé with a serious pedigree. Apollo's Praise is the project of celebrated Finger Lakes winemakers Kelby James Russell and Julia Rose Hoyle, who in 2023 acquired the 20-acre Lahoma Vineyard on the west side of Seneca Lake. The name nods to a Harvard Glee Club anthem from Kelby's undergraduate years. Their Nutt Road Vineyard Dry Rosé is sourced from a Cabernet Franc planting on the Dresden Bench farmed by Peter Martini of Anthony Road — fruit Kelby has worked with since his very first rosé in 2013. The 2025 is a saturated, hot-pink wine with ripe strawberry and red cherry up front, then red licorice, tobacco leaf, lavender and a herbaceous Cab Franc snap. Medium-bodied, well-rounded, with restrained tannins underlining the fruit — distinctly Finger Lakes, distinctly considered.

Kelby James Russell and Julia Rose Hoyle established Apollo's Praise in 2023 with the purchase of the Lahoma Vineyard on the west side of Seneca Lake in the Finger Lakes. The vineyard's sandstone soils are uncommon in the region and lend their Rieslings a real opulence and ripe generosity that stands out in any lineup. Both winemakers have deep experience in the region, and their vision is to make wines that honor terroir-driven expression. This is still early, but the potential here is genuine.

Tasting Profile

Ripe strawberry, red cherry and red currant lead with red licorice, tobacco leaf, lavender and a green-herb Cab Franc edge. Well-rounded and medium-bodied, with restrained tannins and a fresh close.
