Les Millandes is Arlaud's home turf—a premier cru in Morey-Saint-Denis known for producing wines of roundness and supple energy. The name derives from the Latin for "place where millet once grew," and today biodynamic pioneers Arlaud coax remarkable depth from these limestone soils using horse-drawn plows and meticulous hand work. This 2023 shows the hallmarks of their approach: pristine fruit clarity, fine-grained tannins, and a mineral backbone that speaks to place. More structured than their Chambolle, with excellent aging potential alongside early drinkability.

Cyprien Arlaud took over the domaine from his father and ever since has been making wines in a pure and clean style. Today his premier crus have only 15% new oak and most of his cuvées employ some whole cluster. Farming is biodynamic (certified).

"The 2023 Morey-Saint-Denis Les Millandes 1er Cru offers a well-defined bouquet with touches of crushed stone infusing the red fruit, becoming more floral with aeration. The medium-bodied palate features plush tannins, good body and ample depth. There is a little sinew toward the close, perhaps at the expense of finesse, though it finishes long. Give this a couple of years in the bottle." -Neal Martin
