Natural Sicilian white from Nino Barraco, who took over his family's Marsala vineyards in 2004 and immediately committed to rigorous organic farming—no systemic chemicals, never irrigated. A blend of 90% Grillo with small portions of Catarratto and Zibibbo (Muscat of Alexandria) from young vines planted over sand. Fermented on skins for one day, then pressed off to vats. Indigenous yeast fermentation, aged approximately 10 months in stainless steel. No added sulfites, no fining or filtration. The estate now farms around 20 hectares in northwestern Sicily.

More about Barraco

Nino Barraco's parents sold fermented wine to Marsala houses; Nino took over their vines in 2004 and flipped the script entirely. Organic farming, native Sicilian grapes—Grillo, Catarratto, Nero d'Avola—and natural winemaking with minimal sulfites. He's showing that Marsala's future lives in its own backyard, not in industrial producers' warehouses. Twenty hectares spread along the coast, 40,000 bottles yearly of pure potential.

Flatiron's Take

From the Importer

What Bowler Wine has to say about this wine:

The Fior di Bianco and Fior di Rosso are Nino's first attempt at making a wine with multiple varieties from multiple vineyards. They're meant to be young, fresh, and accessible. 45% Grillo, 35% Catarratto, 15% Grecanico, 5% Zibibbo from 3ha of vineyards scattered throughout the Marsala zone, with a wide range of topsoils, but with Marsala's constant layer of limestone not far under the surface. Some guyot, some alberello. Vines planted between 2000 and 2008. 0-150m above sea level. Separate harvests in second half of August to preserve freshness. Separate fermentations for each variety. No maceration. Aging in stainless. A blend is made pre-bottling.
