Erich Berger guides this family winery in Gedersdorf, in the eastern Kremstal, where 25 hectares are farmed to organic guidelines. Grüner Veltliner makes up three quarters of the vineyard, with Riesling, Gelber Muskateller and a little Zweigelt and Pinot Blanc. Whites grow on steep loess terraces and are fermented slowly and cool, then aged only in stainless steel, with varietal character and terroir as the goal. The wines are fresh, clean and quietly mineral: Austrian white wine that prizes restraint over showiness.
