Birgit Eichinger is one of Austria's pioneering woman winemakers, founding her estate in 1992 to focus on expressing Kamptal's finest terroir. The Ried Heiligenstein is classified as Erste Lage 1ÖTW—equivalent to a Premier Cru—and is recognized as one of the world's best Riesling sites. The 2021 vintage displays a complex bouquet of citrus, green apple, peach, and minerality, with a palate that balances refreshing acidity against ripe fruit and honey notes. "Eichinger's 2021 Riesling Ried Zobinger Heiligenstein 1OTW presented itself in difficult shape in September at the Erste Lage tasting in Grafenegg. Notes of yeast and distilled milk in the dense, still-restrained nose say a lot, just not Heiligenstein. This is very juicy and fruit-intensive in the mouth but also a bit broad and bitter, losing focus. 13% stated alcohol. Natural cork stopper." — Stephan Reinhardt
