An everyday-priced white grown on ungrafted vines over a hundred years old — arithmetic that only really works in the Canary Islands, where phylloxera never landed. The fruit comes from La Piñera and neighboring sites in the Valle de la Orotava on Tenerife's north coast, 500 to 600 meters up, where a thin skin of clay sits directly on volcanic rock and the Alisios trade winds push cool humidity into the valley. Carlos García, who took the family estate over from his father Américo in 2020 and farms organically, presses the Listán Blanco straight to stainless steel, ferments cool with the vineyard's own yeasts, and leaves it three or four months in tank before bottling — no oak, nothing in the way. It's the volcanic white to buy by the case and drink without thinking too hard about it.
