Vigna La Casa is Caparzo’s flagship single-vineyard Brunello, planted high on the Montosoli hill—one of the most prized zones in all of Montalcino. The 2004 vintage was classic and balanced, offering wines built to evolve gracefully. Now with two decades of bottle age, this Brunello is in a gorgeous place, where fruit, structure, and tertiary notes come together in seamless harmony.

Dried cherry, fig, and blood orange unfold alongside leather, balsamic herbs, and a touch of tobacco. The tannins have softened into a velvety frame, but there’s still plenty of structure to carry the wine through a long, savory finish. Decant gently to let it stretch out, and pair with aged cheeses, game, or porcini-rich dishes. A beautifully mature Brunello that wears its pedigree—and its age—with quiet confidence.

Antonio Galloni

91 points

"Good deep red. Flamboyantly lively aromas of maraschino cherry, minerals, licorice, flowers and building Christmas spices. Round, sweet and pliant; a sexy, rather modern-style fruit bomb, with rich, sappy flavors of cherry, raspberry and spices. Finishes with dusty tannins and impressive energy." —Stephen Tanzer

Robert Parker

93 points

"The single-vineyard 2004 Brunello di Montalcino La Casa is a sweet, layered offering that blossoms on the palate with notable elegance and class. The wine continues to build, showing terrific volume and density as its dark fruit accompanies the tannins all the way to the finish. This is an intense, brooding Brunello in need of bottle age, but its qualities are impossible not to admire even at this early stage. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2024." —Antonio Galloni

Decanter

94 points

"Another Montosoli Brunello, this time from Elisabetta Gnudi Angelini, owner here since 1998. It's made in a style that showcases clear, well styled red fruit whose immediacy is deceptive, as this wine can age gracefully in the medium to long term." —Michael Broadbent

Wine Spectator

93 points

"Rich and dense, with black cherry, blackberry, licorice and tar aromas and flavors. Dense and muscular, this red is still very fresh and long, with a tangy, savory finish."

Wine Enthusiast

88 points

"This special selezione Brunello delivers big ripe fruit flavors-almost too ripe-of blueberry, strawberry and red currants. The wine has power and heft with more flavors of spice, leather, tobacco and gritty tannins." —Monica Larner
