More about Cayuse Vineyards

In 1996, Christophe Baron drove through Walla Walla and spotted a field of stones—softball-sized rocks covering acres—and was reminded of French vineyards he'd visited. He saw terroir. Today, his stony Cailloux vineyard produces Syrah that earns 98 points and stands shoulder-to-shoulder with Côte-Rôtie icons. The 2019 Cailloux, co-fermented with 4% Viognier, is the template. Cayuse was the first Walla Walla winery to farm biodynamic; they now have five estate vineyards across 50 acres. A stone-serious producer in every sense—both philosophy and geology.
