Chateau du Hureau
Paloumey is located in the lower Haut-Médoc, near 3rd growth La Lagune. It was founded in 1989 by Martine Cazeneuve, a woman who could see that, despite possessing neither vines nor a cellar, the soils had potential.Eventually the estate attained Cru Bourgeois classification, validating Martine’s vision. On our trip last year, however, the vision that excited us belonged to Martine’s son, Pierre.Pierre began taking over from mom in 2015, immediately moving towards organic viticulture and a subtler approach in the cellar. He seeks advice from his friends (and biodynamic wine legends) Thierry Germain and the cousins Vacheron, indicating an ambition to make great wine.

Loire Valley Wines
The Loire Valley is France’s greatest source of value for anyone looking for elegant, terroir-driven wines. Our collection celebrates the region’s great diversity, with the mineral-driven whites of Muscadet and Sancerre, the beautiful Chenin Blancs and Cabernet Francs from villages like Vouvray and Chinon, and natural wines from everywhere in the region. Sometimes wonderfully fresh and gulpable, sometimes serious and age-worthy, the prices are always very reasonable.
