Château Massereau doesn’t follow the Bordeaux rulebook. Located in Barsac but working well beyond the sweet-wine tradition, the Chaigneau family farms old vines organically and bottles with minimal sulfur—making some of the region’s most unconventional and soulful reds.

Cuvée K 2011 is a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc from low-yielding vines, fermented with native yeasts and bottled unfiltered. Over a decade on, it’s mellowed into something quietly complex: dried black cherry, leather, tobacco, and forest floor, with earthy tannins and a whisper of wildness that speaks to its natural roots.

This is Bordeaux stripped of artifice—no new oak, no polish, just time, soil, and intent. For those used to glossy Right Bank reds, it’s a revelation in texture and honesty. Pair with roast lamb, lentils, or a long conversation. Decant gently—it’s alive.
