Old-vine Barossa Shiraz from one of the most unusual addresses in Australian wine. Cirillo Estate sits on deep sand in Vine Vale, in the family's hands since Vincent Cirillo bought the vineyard in 1970; his son Marco now runs every part of the operation, from pruning to bottling. The estate is most famous for its 1848-planted Grenache and Semillon — among the oldest commercially productive vines on the planet — and the Single Vineyard Shiraz comes from old-vine parcels worked by the same patient, basket-pruned, low-yielding hand. The 2024 is built in Marco's house style: native-yeast fermented, no oak gymnastics, fruit allowed to do the talking. The result is a Shiraz with old-vine concentration but no jammy excess — structured, savory, and unmistakably Vine Vale.
