What is this wine?
Clos Larrouyat’s Jurançon Sec “Comète” 2024 is a dry white wine from the foothills of the Pyrenees in southwest France, made primarily from Gros Manseng with a touch of Petit Manseng. The estate, run by husband-and-wife team Sébastien and Christelle Coustarret, farms organically and harvests by hand from steep limestone and sandstone slopes. Fermented with native yeasts and aged on fine lees in neutral barrels, Comète is the domaine’s signature dry cuvée—pure, textural, and intensely mineral.

Why get this wine?
Clos Larrouyat has quickly become one of the rising stars of Jurançon, bringing precision and elegance to this historic appellation. Comète 2024 reflects the balance of mountain freshness and Atlantic influence, offering vivid fruit, saline energy, and Burgundian finesse. It’s a world-class expression of Manseng—complex yet refreshing, perfect for fans of dry Chenin or Chardonnay.

What does this wine taste like?
Vibrant and layered, with notes of grapefruit, quince, and white flowers over a core of wet stone and herbs. The palate is dry and taut, with bright acidity, creamy texture, and a long, salty, mineral finish.

When should you drink this wine?
Drink now for its lively freshness or cellar through 2032 for richer honeyed tones. Excellent with shellfish, white meats, or goat cheese. Serve cool, around 50°F.

More about Clos Larrouyat

Maxime and Lucie Salharang started planting Jurançon in 2011 with Gros Manseng, Petit Manseng, and the rare Camaralet on land that belonged to Maxime's grandfather in the foothills of the Pyrenees. The result is impossibly precise, mineral-edged white wine that tastes like stones and altitude. These are probably the freshest, most saline wines Southwest France has produced in the last decade. Tiny production, massive integrity.
