Desire Lines' Experimental Series is exactly what it sounds like - small, playful one-offs where Cody Rasmussen tries something new. 'Fred Rides Again' is a Mourvedre bottling, and Mourvedre is one of the varieties this winery is best known for coaxing into elegance rather than brute force. Like their other Contra Costa work, the fruit here comes from old sandy-soil vines that give suppleness and perfume. Production is tiny and these wines don't come around often. If you're a fan of the house style or just love a Rhone grape done with a light hand, grab it while you can.
