Domaine Bellegarde sits in the Pyrenean foothills outside Monein, twenty kilometers west of Pau; Labasse trained at Château la Tour Blanche in Sauternes before taking over the family estate in 1985. The Énergique is a 100% Gros Manseng, fermented in stainless steel without oak, built to keep all the variety's signature citrus snap and saline lift intact. The 2024 vintage delivers the kind of high-tone freshness this bottling is all about — pink grapefruit, lemon zest, a chalky mineral grip — without any of the textural weight of his barrel-aged cuvées. A juicy, satisfying introduction to one of southwest France's most underrated appellations.
