Camille Thiriet and Matt Chittick are among the rising stars of Burgundy, farming organically out of the under-the-radar villages at the southern tip of the Cote de Nuits, with horses plowing some of their old-vine parcels. Their Bourgogne Rouge 'En la Place' is everyday red Burgundy with the soul of something pricier: pure, perfumed Pinot Noir made with a light hand, little new oak, and plenty of energy. Think bright red cherry, a little earth and spice, and that silky Cote de Nuits charm. It overdelivers for a village-level Bourgogne and offers a perfect window into a domaine that's quickly becoming a cult favorite. Pinot lovers, take note.
