The most Vosne-like wine in Faiveley's Nuits-Saint-Georges lineup, and a mature bottle from one of red Burgundy's great modern vintages. The domaine's 0.81-hectare parcel sits at the northern edge of Les Damodes, right where the commune runs into Vosne-Romanee, high on the slope on shallow, compact sandy clay -- a cooler spot that trades the usual Nuits muscle for perfume and energy. It was aged sixteen months in French oak, a little under half of it new, in the years after Faiveley completed its long transformation from Burgundy negociant into a true domaine farming its own vines. 2010 produced a tiny crop: frost and a difficult flowering cut yields, and a cool summer left small, thick-skinned berries with high acidity, giving wines that are structured and fresh rather than heavy. A back-vintage bottle from a private cellar, drinking well now with more to come.
