From vines planted in the 1940s over limestone-bedrock soils, Romain Guiberteau's Chenin Blanc expresses terroir with crystalline clarity. Whole-cluster pressing, ambient fermentation, and blocked malolactic preserve the wine's freshness across 11–12 months in used barrels. When Romain Guiberteau left law school in 1996 to take over his family's vines near Saumur, he became one of Loire's brightest lights. He farms organically (certified since 2007), makes only Cabernet Franc and Chenin Blanc, and isn't afraid to push both grapes into unexplored territory. His wines have punk-rock intensity wrapped in classical elegance.
