Same staggering wine — Clos Florentin, the Chave estate's historic walled Saint-Joseph from a 15th-century clos in Mauves planted to 80-year-old Syrah on decomposed granite — in 1.5L magnum format. Magnums are the right format for a wine like this: the slower oxygen exchange in a larger bottle means slower, more graceful aging, plus magnums become the centerpiece of any table they land on. Jean-Louis Chave acquired the Clos in 2009 from a family that had farmed it organically for generations and first bottled it separately in 2015.
