L'instinct captures what makes northern Rhône Syrah so compelling: the electric tension between dark fruit and mineral drive that granite soils impart. Domaine Jolivet farms steep terraced vineyards in Saint-Joseph, where whole-cluster fermentation and judicious oak let the Syrah speak for itself. The 2022 shows blackberry, cracked pepper, and violet aromatics with a smoky, saline finish—classic northern Rhône character. This drinks beautifully now but will evolve gracefully over the next 5-7 years. Serve slightly cool with grilled meats or rich vegetable dishes.
