Meunier spends most of its life as a supporting player in somebody else's blend. Here it gets the entire stage. La Garenne is a single west-facing parcel in Treslon, in the Vallée de l'Ardre, planted to Meunier vines pushing fifty years old, and Vincent Lagille bottles it on its own from a single vintage to see what the site actually has to say. Fermentation happens in well-used barrels — nothing new, nothing showy — and the dosage stays minimal, so there's no sweetness papering over the texture. The result is Meunier with far more grip and depth than its reputation allows: ripe fruit up front, a savory undertow, and a finish that runs dry and long. A Champagne for anyone who thinks they already know what Meunier tastes like.
