The name Roulot is now a synonym for the very best wine that the village of Meursault can offer. It is rather remarkable when you consider that just 2 generations back the Roulot's were known as producers of Burgundian brandy and eau de vie. But Guy Roulot began leveraging the family's distilling success to purchase small plots of vines in Meursault and by the 1970's was known as a pioneer for producing top quality chardonnay from distinct parcels or ""lieu-dits"".

When Guy passed away unexpectedly in the early '80's his son Jean-Marc was pursuing acting in Paris. In 1989 he returned to take on the reigns of the small Domaine and in the following decades built on his fathers success so well that the wines are now extremely hard to acquire and to afford for most of us.

Professional Reviews

Burghound

BH 94
"A classic Meursault nose consists of pure and very fresh hazelnut, white orchard fruit and acacia blossom aromas that are trimmed in subtle wood nuances. The borderline painfully intense medium-bodied flavors possess excellent punch and very good mid-palate concentration before terminating in a taut and delineated finish that displays a distinct saline character along with hints of citrus. This beautifully understated wine of finesse is notably finer than the Porusot if not possessing nearly the same degree of power."

"The 2014 Meursault 1er Cru Clos des Bouchères has an exquisite bouquet of very pure lime flower, dried apricot and hints of Turkish Delight even that make this one of Jean-Marc's most exotic Meursault wines. The palate is beautifully balanced with perfect acidity; it is utterly harmonious with a seamless, captivating finish that might leave your jaw agape. This is fabulous from start to finish."
