It's hard to picture a more iconic Napa Cabernet than Dunn. Randy and Lori Dunn have been making no-frills, reference-point Cabernet on Howell Mountain since 1978, and this is the more approachable of their two bottlings. In 2022 there's a twist: it's all Howell Mountain estate fruit, no valley floor, yet still bottled under the Napa Valley label. The result is an unusual Dunn, soft and succulent, with the bold, juicy personality to drink well now rather than demanding a decade in the cellar. Built with the family's signature restraint, it's a classic that happens to be ready early.

Dark red/purplish fruit, lavender, rose petal, spice and menthol infuse the 2022 with tons of nuance. There's a lot to like here, starting with the wine's bold, juicy personality.
