Elio Sandri is one of Barolo's most coveted traditionalists, working just 7.5 hectares at Cascina Disa in the Perno cru of Monforte d'Alba entirely by hand. He ferments in cement and ages in giant old botti, with no fining, no filtration and sulfur only at bottling. This Langhe Nebbiolo is the gateway to his world: the same uncompromising approach in a younger, more approachable form, and a far easier way to taste why collectors chase his Barolos. Given how little he makes, even this disappears quickly.
