Some of the oldest Pinot Gris vines in Oregon sit behind this bottle, planted in 1985 at Elk Cove's original Winery Estate vineyard. Pat and Joe Campbell founded the estate in 1974 on an abandoned homestead in the Coast Range foothills, back when the whole state had fewer than ten wineries; their son Adam, a fifth-generation Oregon farmer, has been the winemaker since 1995 and now oversees six estate sites across the northern Willamette Valley. The fruit here comes from those old home-block vines plus the high-density plantings at Mount Richmond in the Yamhill-Carlton AVA. It is whole-cluster pressed and cold-fermented in small stainless steel tanks with no oak at all, which keeps the aromatics intact and the texture clean. This is the serious end of American Pinot Gris, dry and structured rather than soft. Serve it chilled but not frigid.

Robert Parker

90 points

"The 2024 Pinot Gris was blended with 4% Gewürztraminer and 2% Muscat and fermented in stainless steel. It has understated aromas of peach, apricot, bread dough and spice. The medium-bodied palate is concentrated, textural and savory with gently honeyed flavors. Bright acidity balances 3.6 grams of residual sugar, and it has a long, flavorful finish. 21,430 cases produced." —Erin Brooks

Wine Spectator

89 points

"Delicate and pretty, with floral peach, lemon and honeysuckle tones that linger."

Wine Enthusiast

92 points

"Always a standard bearer, the latest Pinot Gris from Elk Cove is excellent. Fresh-grated lemon zest and orange blossom aromas are accented by a wee bit of wet slate. The wine, which was whole-cluster pressed and cold fermented in small stainless steel tanks, possesses flavors ranging from grapefruit lightly sprinkled in sugar to a green apple gummy bear."

What has to say about this wine:

Tasting Notes & Food Pairings

Perfect Pairings

Dungeness crab, halibut with brown butter, seared scallops, or a prosciutto and melon plate. It is also a genuinely good match for Thai and Vietnamese dishes with chili and herbs.

Tasting Profile

Lemon zest, orange blossom and green apple, with apricot and honeyed peach on the palate. Dry and medium-bodied, with a clean line of acidity, some textural weight, and a crisp, citrus-driven finish.
