A benchmark for what estate-grown Willamette Valley Pinot Noir should cost and taste like, blended across all six of Elk Cove's own vineyards. The Winery Estate, Mount Richmond, Five Mountain, Clay Court, Goodrich and Windhill sites cover all three of the valley's major soil types and both Pommard and Dijon plant material, which is what gives the blend its range. Pat and Joe Campbell planted here in 1974, when Oregon had fewer than ten wineries; their son Adam, a fifth-generation Oregon farmer, has made the wines since 1995. Each block ferments separately in small temperature-controlled steel tanks with twice-daily hand punch-downs, then rests ten months in French oak. The 2024 season was well-paced, with a wet winter and spring, a few heat spikes during ripening and a cooling turn in late August, and the harvest stretched across forty days from early September so each block could come in on its own schedule. At 13.5 percent alcohol, it is built for the dinner table rather than the trophy case.

Perfect Pairings

Roast chicken with herbs, grilled salmon, duck breast, or mushroom risotto. It also handles a Thanksgiving table better than almost anything else.

Tasting Profile

Red cherry, raspberry and cranberry with rose petal and a touch of oak spice. Medium-bodied, with gentle fine tannins, fresh acidity and a silky texture. Balanced and drinking well now, with a few years of upside.
