A precise, elegant expression of Jura's singular white wine from a young, energetic domaine. Domaine Fumey-Chatelain—founded 30 years ago, now led by Marin Fumey—tends 17 hectares organically in the Arbois appellation. This 2023 Savagnin comes from young vines on marl soils, fermented and aged 18 months in barrels. The result: purity and elegance that speak to Jura's mineral terroir. Lemon zest, white grapefruit, crushed chalk, and almond aromas open into a palate of acacia flowers, lemon, and bitter almond with sharp saline tension. The finish is long, salivating, and bone-dry. Drink now through 2027.

"The 2023 Savagnin Ouillé comes from 60% old vines and 40% new vines on Lias marl soils, and it matured mostly in foudre and 500-liter barrels and a six months in stainless steel. It's clean, varietal and fresh, with very good acidity and citrus notes, textured, elegant and perfumed, with fine minerality and a serious profile, with 13% alcohol. 10,000 bottles were produced. It's truly delicious and very nicely priced." —Luis Gutiérrez

More about Fumey-Chatelain

Marin Fumey—a cousin of the legendary Stéphane Tissot—took over this 17-hectare Jura domaine in 2015 after studying in Beaune. He practices organic viticulture with biodynamic influence, makes mineral-driven Savagnin and Chardonnay, and produces Vin Jaune the traditional way—aging under a veil of yeast for six years and three months. His wines show real Jura terroir and ambition.
