Gabriëlskloof is a rising star known for crafting textured, terroir-driven wines with a modern, elegant touch. Their "Elodie" Chenin Blanc is sourced from dry-farmed old vines planted in the 1970s and '80s in Swartland and Durbanville—heritage bush vines rooted in rocky soils that impart both tension and depth.

The 2022 vintage shines with clarity and poise: aromas of green apple, white peach, lemon blossom, and a whisper of honeycomb leap from the glass. The palate is precise and mineral-driven, with a taut, linear core of acidity balanced by subtle lees texture and a long, saline finish.

This is Chenin Blanc that blends the vibrancy of the Loire with South Africa’s own sunlit, coastal identity—vibrant now, but capable of evolving beautifully over the next 5–7 years.

"The 2022 Eloise, jocosely described as the "poor man's Cartology" by Peter-Allan Finalyson, is matured in 20% amphora. It has a vivacious bouquet with orchard fruit, grilled hazelnut and a touch of white peach. Good complexity here. The palate is lively on the entry, a zesty Chenin Blanc with lemon sherbet and orange rind towards the finish, with just a faint oiliness coming through with time. Great potential." —Neal Martin
