Giuseppe Rinaldi is one of the legendary traditionalist names of Barolo, producing impossible-to-find wines of depth, structure and pure terroir. Brunate-Le Coste is the estate's historic blend of two storied crus, the bottling collectors chase hardest. The 2008 was a classic, structured Barolo vintage with the fragrance and backbone Nebbiolo lovers prize. At around fifteen-plus years this is moving into its mature stride but still has life and grip; decant for sediment and give it air. A rare bottle from a cult address.

More about Giuseppe Rinaldi

In a region obsessed with single-vineyard expressions, Giuseppe Rinaldi remains a traditionalist purist: he blends fruit from multiple Barolo sites to capture the soul of the appellation, not the plot. Fermented with natural yeasts in his father's ancient oak tini for a month, with no temperature control, then aged in old botti for three and a half years, his Barolos are powerful, hauntingly perfumed monuments to time-honored craft.
