Premetta (also known as Prie Rouge) is an obscure alpine red so pale it practically glows, and Grosjean makes one of the benchmark versions from Italy's Valle d'Aosta. The family has farmed these terraced mountain slopes with integrity since the 1960s, in a region long ruled by the House of Savoy before joining Italy, where the locals still speak their own Franco-Provencal patois. This is featherweight red wine at its most charming: light in color, low in tannin, high in energy, and built for pure refreshment. Think rose-adjacent red: crunchy red berries, alpine herbs, a floral lift and a chill-friendly frame. Obscure, yes. Delicious, absolutely.

In 2011, Grosjean became the first in the region to earn organic certification, and their seven hectares now dance with 11 indigenous grape varieties and select internationals.
