A modern Saint-Emilion to watch, Chateau Haut-Brisson sits in the Saint-Emilion Grand Cru appellation. It was the founding property of the Kwok family's Vignobles K group, but the estate was sold to Stephane Schinazi in 2019, so this 2022 was made under his ownership and is Merlot-driven, with a small dollop of Cabernet Franc. The 2022 is the standout here: a hot, sun-drenched vintage across Bordeaux that produced rich, deeply fruited yet remarkably balanced reds. Young and built to age, this is a generous, polished wine that delivers serious quality for the category. Cellar a few years or decant well for early enjoyment.

Antonio Galloni

"The 2022 Haut-Brisson is a sumptuous, racy wine. Super-ripe dark red/purplish fruit, lavender, rose petal, spice and new leather all meld together in a racy, mid-weight Saint-Émilion that is all charm. Soft contours wrap it all together. There's a lot to like here." —Antonio Galloni

Robert Parker

"As readers may remember, the 2022 Haut-Brisson is a blend of 95% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc. Evoking aromas of cassis, mulberries and flowers, it's medium to full-bodied, round and enveloping with a juicy core of fruit, powdery tannins and a long, saline, chalky finish enhanced by a delicate reduction at this stage. This is one of the most gourmand offerings in the Vignobles K universe." —Yohan Castaing

Decanter

"Vivid purple colour, rich and vibrant in the glass. Aromas of dark black fruit and opulent perfumed scents. Juicy and supple, tannins are prominent but so is acidity giving a push pull of tension and fruit forwardness. You can taste the sun kissed fruit in the glass, very slightly jammy, but it keeps a sense of liveliness and freshness too giving a drinkable expression. Really quite a joyful and fun expression with bite and soft liquorice spicing. Tasted twice."

Wine Enthusiast

"From one of the estates managed by Peter Kwok's Vignobles K, this is a ripe, soft wine from the Dordogne plain. It is juicy, with blackberry fruits and a light spice aroma. Drink from 2027." —Lauren Johnson-Wünscher
