"The 2024 Beerenauslese is a blend of Welschriesling, Furmint and Grauburgunder, picked in the middle of October with healthy, clear botrytis. Honeyed golden peach and a touch of sultana appear on the nose. The palate is intensely sweet, with vivid botrytis notes and thrilling acidity. Ultra-concentrated, ultra-sweet, totally golden and utterly pristine. This verges on Ausbruch, even though they decided on labeling it Beerenauslese. It boasts 220 grams per liter of residual sweetness and 5.6 grams per liter of acidity." —Anne Krebiehl MW

More about Heidi Schrock & Sohne

The punk-rock-matriarch of rust is now joined by her twin sons in the vineyards and cellar. This is a family mired in tradition but constantly pushing the boundaries modernism and deliciousness.

The Schröck's have worked tirelessly to revive many of the nearly lost traditions of their darling Rust. Furmint, famous for Tokaj was once a star varietal here, thanks to Heidi and friends is now being made into some fabulous dry and sweet wines. She is a leader of Cercle Ruster Ausbruch an organization whose goal is to retain the Ausbruch sweet wines, lost after phylloxera devastated the region in the 19th century.

Her sweet wines are some of Austria's best but its the Schröck family dry wines, exuberant and vivacious which have captured the attention of today's adventurous drinker.
