High Wire Distilling Company, New Southern Revival Abruzzi Rye Whiskey

$59.99
Taxes and shipping calculated at checkout.

A rye whiskey made entirely from Wrens Abruzzi, an heirloom rye grown across the Carolinas for generations and nearly farmed out of existence. Scott Blackwell and Ann Marshall built their Charleston distillery around exactly this kind of grain recovery, most famously with Jimmy Red corn, and here they mash the rye raw and unmalted so the grain's cereal sweetness and nutty side stay in front instead of being buried under spice. Bottled at 90 proof. There is enough sweetness to drink it neat and enough backbone to build an Old Fashioned or a Sazerac on it.

Tasting Notes & Food Pairings

Perfect Pairings

Pecan pie, dark chocolate, aged cheddar, or smoked brisket and ribs. Equally at home as the base of an Old Fashioned, Sazerac or Manhattan.

Tasting Profile

Sweet and floral to start, opening into cinnamon, walnut and toasted grain. Rounder and gentler than most ryes, with a warm, lingering spice on the finish.
