Montepulciano is a workhorse grape and it earns that title here: dark, juicy, soft enough to drink on its own, sturdy enough to stand up to a plate of red sauce. More about Il Conte

Il Conte has multiple iterations: a Pinot Grigio and Montepulciano blend (from winemakers in Piemonte or Veneto), and Il Conte Villa Prandone, the medieval Marche estate founded by Amilcare De Angelis in 1950. Marino took over in 1988 and made the name. These are Italian wines that taste like their villages actually exist.

Tasting Profile

Dark and juicy, with black cherry and plum fruit and a peppery, savory edge. Medium-bodied and fleshy, with soft tannins and moderate acidity. The finish is short and easy, a little spicy, nothing to puzzle over.
