Jacquesson, Champagne Extra Brut "Cuvee 748", NV

Based on the 2019 vintage, 75% of the harvest came from Aÿ, Dizy, Hautvillers, Champillon and 25% from Avize and Oiry. Spring frosts sadly decimated the Chardonnay harvest, and a warm growing season allowed for plenty of Pinot richness to come through. Round, long, and extremely elegant. “Based on the 2019 vintage, the NV Extra-Brut Cuvée No. 747 reveals a lively, delicate bouquet of white pepper, tangerine, lemon oil, herbs and red berries mingled with lovely menthol notes. Medium to full-bodied, tense and sappy, it's layered with a vinous core of fruit and a delicately saline finish. This is not the most opulent iteration from this house but rather an edition that closely reflects the character of the vintage, marked by its tension and phenolic complexity.” Yohan Castaing, Wine Advocate

More about Jacquesson

Founded in 1798, Jacquesson is arguably the world's oldest independent Champagne house, now led by brothers Laurent and Jean-Hervé Chiquet. They work 28 hectares with herbicide-free farming and an obsession with terroir-driven bubbles—low dosage, complex blends, wines that prove Champagne doesn't need sweetness to sing.

Champagne

Champagne boasts some of the world’s greatest luxury brands with Krug, Cristal and, of course, Dom Perignon. But it’s also home to hundreds of small dynamic producers—farmers who grow their own grapes (often organically) and make (often with natural methods) tiny amounts of pure and absolutely delicious wine that reflect the individual personalities of their villages and terroirs. Toast with these wines, for sure. But also treat them like the great wines they are: taste, drink, explore!
