Tessons is the fullest of Jean-Philippe Fichet's village Meursaults — the one with real breadth to go with the tension. Fichet works a small estate of parcels no bigger than a hectare apiece, with old vines and a single obsession: purity. That obsession is why his wines age the way they do, and why this 2017, now nearing a decade in bottle, is hitting its stride rather than fading. It was a generous white Burgundy vintage with the acidity to hold, and the wine shows it: hazelnut and ripe orchard fruit layered over citrus and a stony, saline core. Complete is the right word — nothing sticking out, nothing missing.
