The Cœur de Combard from Julien Barge is a vibrant and expressive Syrah from the northern Rhône, crafted by a winemaker whose family has shaped Côte-Rôtie for generations. While best known for his work in Côte-Rôtie, Julien also produces wines from select vineyards that highlight the terroir-driven character of the region. The Cœur de Combard comes from younger vines and is made in a more approachable style, emphasizing freshness and purity of fruit while still reflecting the elegance of Barge’s winemaking.
The 2022 vintage is lively and aromatic, offering bright notes of blackberries, blueberries, and violets, intertwined with hints of cracked pepper and a touch of smoked earth. The palate is silky and medium-bodied, with fine-grained tannins and a vibrant acidity that keeps the wine fresh and energetic.
