Julien Pineau is part of the new-school Loire crew making natural wine with energy and personality, and Les Sucettes à l’Aunis (literally “lollipops of Aunis”) is exactly that—a playful, zero-additive expression of Pineau d’Aunis, one of the Loire’s most eccentric and lovable grapes.
The 2023 vintage is light and vibrant, bursting with tart raspberry, red currant, and crushed white pepper. There’s a hint of wild thyme and a little farmy funk that blows off with air, revealing a silky, pepper-laced palate with mouthwatering acidity and low alcohol. Serve it with a chill and drink it fast—it’s made for apéro hour, picnics, or anything off the grill. Unfiltered, unfussy, and totally alive.
