What is this wine?
La Ferme des Sept Lunes is a small, biodynamic estate run by Jean Delobre in the northern Rhône, just outside Saint-Joseph. The vineyards, farmed without chemicals and with great care, produce expressive, soulful wines that often sit outside the appellation system, labeled instead as Vin de France. This Syrah comes from organically farmed Rhône vineyards and is crafted with minimal intervention, resulting in a pure, unadorned expression of the grape.
Why get this wine?
Natural Rhône Syrah at this level of quality and affordability is rare. Jean Delobre is admired for his honesty and craftsmanship, making wines that capture Syrah’s peppery, floral, and mineral character without heavy oak or extraction. It’s an artisan’s bottle that delivers authenticity and energy, standing apart from more polished or commercial Rhône offerings.
What does this wine taste like?
Lively and medium-bodied, with juicy blackberry, blueberry, and cherry fruit accented by black pepper, violets, and a smoky, savory edge. The tannins are fine and lightly rustic, giving the wine both freshness and grip.
When should you drink this wine?
Meant for drinking young and vibrant, ideally within 2–4 years. Perfect with charcuterie, grilled meats, lentil stews, or roasted vegetables. A slight chill brings out its lively side.
